What is our next hope if Sutent does not work?
I’m afraid of hearing my cell phone rings, because I’m afraid of hearing any more bad news from my father. every time i saw my father’s photos or anything of him, his shoes, his clothes, i can’t control my tears. I know he’s going to leave me forever, and he’s only 54, and i haven’t got a chance to give him a comfortable later years.
He can not take Sutent pills any more, because the side-effect almost killed him. mother called me and told me that my father is getting worse, and they are going back to stay in the hospital. Because of the side-effect of the targeted treatment , nausea and vomiting, father has not eat anything for two days, he vomited out even just drank some water, and he has ascites and edema appeared on his body. Doctor said we definitely can not just draw the ascites out, because he is lack of protein, and even we draw the ascites out,they will fill up again very soon. So his treatment plan is stop taking sutent, take one IL-2 and supply protein by using protein infusion, or 1-2 bag of blood plasma. then some diuretics will be used when his condition is stabler, they didn’t say what’s next detailedly, they said we should solve my father’s current problems first, ascites and alleviate the side-effect. That’s what my mother told me on the phone. And according to a couple of simple tests today, the results showed that Sutent doesn’t work well on my father, his situation is almost not changing. i don’t know what is our next hope, maybe Afinitor everolimus will work, but we should consult with doctor first.
I’m going back to my hometown tomorrow with my girlfriend, and we will have our marriage certificate next week, that may cheer my father up.
