Medical researchers have not been able to identify the exact causes of renal cell carcinoma, but researchers have identified several known risk factors for the disease, like: being male, being over 50, being on dialysis, Von Hippel-Lindau disease, smoking, family or personal history of kidney cancer or bladder cancer, long-term abuse of over-the-counter analgesics.(RCC–Causes)
In traditional Chinese medical science, we understand kidney cancer and renal pelvis cancer as lack of Kidney Qi (Essence is stored in the kidney), toxic dampness cumulate inside the kidney, or moist heat sinister toxin outside combine with the inside toxic dampness in the ShuiDao(means water route,a acupuncture point in <<A-B Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion>>). Kidney is too weak to assimilate blood and causes hematuria, waist is kidney’s house, weak kidney causes pain of the waist , stagnationof kidney qi and stasis of blood for a long time to become a mass(tumour). Most common presentations: Hematuria (40%) Flank pain (40%) Palpable mass in the flank or abdomen (25%) etc. (RCC–Signs and Symptoms) It is characterized by a lack of early warning signs, so when these presentations showed up, it’s late stage already.
Diet principle of kidney cancer treatment:
1. Do not monophagia and do not eat the same kind of food all the time.
2. Do not eat food which is mouldy, fermented, smoked and scorched, do not eat food which is too hot or too salty. NO SMOKING! NO ALCOHOL! (try your best~)
3. Green tea is a good drink to against cancer.
4. Eat more foods can broken down ammonium nilrite, such as: carrots, peas, serpent melons(fruit of Towel Gourd, long crooked squash), bean sprouts, Red Gracilaria Feeding Algae, etc
5. Eat more foods can help make organism stronger and more anticancer, such as: mushroom, Eleocharis tuberosa, coix seed, barley,etc.
must be careful with anything possibly effect or increase kidney’s load, like food with high purine, high fat, soybeans, etc.
except normal nutrition, there are also many kinds of foods which are particularly good for kidney cancer patients, such as: yerbadetajo, mulberry, duck, Aristichthys nobilis, bass, river crab, river prawn.
if the patient has anemia at the same time, these foods below can nourish blood : pork, eggs, quail, wheat, blackfungus, red jujube, longan pulp, yam, etc.
Foods which tonify the kidney and promote urination should be taken after surgery: Chinese wolfberry, pear, Jew’s-ear, fructus momordicae, kiwifruit, mulberry, watermelon, Wax Gourd, coix seed, mung bean, green tea.
